South Africa's new Big Five safari destination

South Africa’s safari landscape is evolving, with emerging destinations offering fresh and immersive experiences. While iconic reserves like Kruger remain popular, new Big Five safari destinations are drawing attention for their unique wildlife encounters, conservation efforts, and luxurious accommodations.

1. Samara Private Game Reserve – Great Karoo

Located in the heart of the Great Karoo, Samara Private Game Reserve spans 67,000 acres of malaria-free wilderness. In 2019, Samara became the first Big Five reserve in the region, reintroducing lions after a 180-year absence and elephants after 150 years.
